Life if well experienced is a powerful memory of multiple adventures taken, not shyed away from. Adventures are the new experiences we get to participate in & carry with us in our memory of achievements. An advancement & progress in any area of our life is often tied to moments of undiscovered self-ability arising from risktaking.

Oftentimes, we become paralyzed when we overanalyze a given situation. Adventures can come with accidents & mistakes which may or may not be avoided. Our tendency to to avoid risks because of the potential to get hurt is often seen in how we become stagnant. This results in the regret of what an unknown outcome could have been. In experience, adventures are not only enjoyed because of the goal destination, but often with the route of the adventurous journey.

Try something new, learn something new, take a drink you never tried (non-alcoholic by the way), tell that person how much you have come to love them, try that business idea. Well, you might get a tummy upset or get a fullstack embarrassing rejection. On the other hand, you might get the taste of your lifetime and might be surprised that the individual of your amorous fantasies might just be as invested. Enjoy the process & journey in adventures. At least you’ll know what doesn’t work & you might also get a new perspective on life & a new confidence that will spur on the progress of many more life’s adventures.

I remember about 14 years ago when I had to go through the Obetsebi Lamptey roundabout for the first time while driving alone in my dad’s beloved BMW. Every Accra driver knows how haphazard that roundabout can be. Long & short, I successfully went through that roundabout four times that day without any assistance & dent. I was elated. I called my dad to proudly announce my baby step achievement after parking his car safely. More recently, I got my sister to drive us from Aburi to Tema. She had not yet attempted such an adventure on the road. My bad! Maybe not the wisest choice given the potential risks involved. I provided the needed guidance while she craftily brought us home safely. My goodness! The rush of dopamine & serotonin was mutual. She was as elated as I was. Her driving confidence shot through the roof. She would not shy from a challenge, she conquered her fears, the fears that stop many of us from taking our greatest adventures: starting a business, a relationship, a ministry, a charity, a career, etc.

So take risks, you will lose some, budget for that whilst taking that risk. However, you’ll likely win quite a fair bit as a reward for your risktaking. Cheers to your advancement, while enjoying the journey!
